Senior Full Stack Developer
Your Mission
HMGICS serves as our core manufacturing testbed for the Software-Defined Factory (SDF) concept, focused on creating a cutting-edge, software-defined manufacturing environment that enables autonomous and flexible production of future mobility solutions.
This position is responsible for designing, developing, operating, and continuously optimizing intelligent software solutions supporting manufacturing DX domains (maintenance, quality, logistics, production, etc), enabling operational efficiency and system stability, and advancing HMGICS toward autonomous manufacturing operations aligned with the Software-Defined Factory vision.
What To Expect
[Application Development]
- Design and develop scalable, secure, and maintainable full-stack software solutions supporting manufacturing DX domains (Maintenance, Logistics, Quality, Production, Assembly, etc.), including frontend, backend, and data layers
- Lead development of applications on industrial platforms (such as ThingWorx) while maintaining flexibility to expand to custom development frameworks and emerging technologies aligned with the technology roadmap
- Architect scalable backend services and APIs integrating diverse manufacturing systems (MES, ERP, SCADA, historians, IoT platforms, data lakes)
- Develop front-end solutions using modern web frameworks, low-code/no-code platforms, and custom UI technologies appropriate to use case requirements
- Develop real-time data solutions leveraging industry-standard connectivity patterns (MQTT, OPC UA, Kafka, REST APIs, and similar streaming technologies)
- Design and maintain data models and databases supporting manufacturing intelligence (SQL, NoSQL, time-series databases, and data warehousing solutions)
- Build AI-ready applications that prepare for integration with emerging AI/ML models for use cases (e.g., predictive maintenance, quality optimization, and production planning)
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade developed applications ensuring performance, reliability, and security in production manufacturing environments
- Ensure cybersecurity, performance optimization, and scalability across all applications
- Participate actively in Agile development, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing operations, solution architects, and business owners to translate requirements into technical solutions
[Technical Leadership]
- Conduct rigorous code reviews of peer and junior developer contributions, ensuring adherence to coding standards, architectural consistency, security best practices, and manufacturing-grade reliability
- Mentor and coach junior developers through technical discussions and project assignments to develop their skills in full-stack development and manufacturing domain knowledge
- Establish and maintain coding standards, testing strategies, automated testing frameworks (unit, integration, end-to-end), and development of best practices for assigned squads and within Centre of Excellence (COE) forum; evolve these as technologies and requirements change
- Provide technical leadership and architecture guidance for assigned DX domain squad
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing operations, solution architects, business owners, and IT teams to understand operational challenges and drive solution alignment
- Champion continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance code quality, system performance, operational efficiency, and emerging technology adoption
- Communicate complex technical concepts and decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines
- 8-10 years of professional software development experience; 5+ years acceptable with exceptional manufacturing or DX background
- Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining full-stack software solutions across frontend, backend, and data layers in production environments
- Strong programming skills in at least 2 of: Java, Python, C#, TypeScript, JavaScript, or modern equivalent languages, with demonstrated ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new languages as technology roadmap evolves
- Hands-on experience with industrial IoT and manufacturing platforms such as ThingWorx, or equivalent low-code/no-code solutions
- Strong expertise in database design and management: SQL (Oracle, Tibero, PostgreSQL, SQL Server), NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra), and time-series databases (InfluxDB, Prometheus) for industrial IoT applications
- Industry-standard connectivity patterns: MQTT, OPC UA, REST APIs, Kafka, RabbitMQ, and similar streaming/messaging technologies
- Hands-on experience with modern web frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js) and full-stack development practices
- DevOps and cloud platform experience: CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or on-premise deployment strategies
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture, API design, integration patterns, and scalable system design principles
- Experience integrating and maintaining diverse manufacturing systems: MES, ERP, SCADA, historians, IoT platforms, and data warehousing solutions
- Real-time data architecture experience: designing and implementing streaming data solutions, time-series analytics, and event-driven systems
- Proven ability to establish coding standards, testing strategies, and development best practices; comfortable implementing and maintaining automated testing frameworks (unit, integration, end-to-end)
- Experience with technical leadership: mentoring junior developers, conducting code reviews, architectural decision-making, and fostering collaborative team environments
- Understanding of smart factory, Industry 4.0, and autonomous manufacturing concepts; familiarity with Software-Defined Factory (SDF) principles is a plus
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex production issues through systematic root-cause analysis and architectural improvements
- Experience in manufacturing, automotive, or digital transformation environments is highly preferred; demonstrated understanding of manufacturing operations, process flows, and DX initiatives
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences (manufacturing operations, business stakeholders)
- Experience working in cross-functional Agile delivery teams and supporting large-scale enterprise transformation initiatives
