Project Director, Technology Foundation

Your Mission

The Project Director will be responsible for driving digital transformation and enabling Hyundai Motor Group’s vision of autonomous manufacturing by leading the development, deployment, and global scaling of industrial software foundation platforms across worldwide manufacturing operations in support of Hyundai’s Software-Defined Factory (SDF) vision.

 

The role is responsible for defining the technology roadmap and delivering enterprise-grade middleware capabilities that enable industrial connectivity, cloud, AI, mobile platforms, Industrial IoT, Low-Code/No-Code (LCNC), MLOps, and edge computing to accelerate software-defined manufacturing. This leader will partner closely with global business stakeholders and lead multiple engineering teams and technology partners to deliver scalable, secure, and reusable software platforms that improve operational efficiency, manufacturing intelligence, and business value.

What To Expect

Strategic & Project Leadership

  • Shape and implement the autonomous manufacturing vision for HMGICS as a center of excellence for global plants, positioning HMGICS as a global benchmark for innovation in mobility and manufacturing.
  • Lead multi-year strategic technology roadmaps and business case presentations, stay up to date with emerging technologies, and drive global standardization and platform scalability across Hyundai manufacturing plants.
  • Establish connections and collaborate with teams in other regions to gather the Voice of the Customer, software practices, data governance requirements, and manufacturing or related business use cases, including business requirements and needs.
  • Work closely with top management, including the CEO and CFOs, to ensure that business impact is verified and captured appropriately.
  • Oversee software technology partners and ensure compliance and technical support for software development.
  • Provide leadership to the team and create a workplace culture aligned with HMGICS’s principles, practices, and values.
  • Create a culture of teamwork and empower employees to take ownership of their responsibilities and career paths.

 

At-Scale Development & Deployment of Technical Foundation Platforms

  • Evaluate and define requirements for deploying foundation platforms at scale, including industrial connectivity, PLC-OT integration, IIoT, edge computing, cloud, MLOps and AI, and mobile platform technologies.
  • Design highly available and resilient middleware platforms that support global manufacturing operations.
  • Leverage cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, and GCP, as well as on-premises solutions, to enable secure and scalable deployments.
  • Architect best-in-class cloud solutions for AI and MLOps, including integration with LCNC mobile solutions and IIoT platform applications.
  • Define the enterprise architecture for industrial connectivity platforms that integrate PLCs, robots, SCADA, MES, and enterprise systems.
  • Enable integration between Industrial IoT platforms, cloud services, and enterprise applications.
  • Drive technology governance, architecture reviews, and engineering best practices across platform development teams.
  • Build reusable technology capabilities that support AI, digital twins, Industrial IoT, and intelligent automation.
  • Partner with technology vendors and global manufacturing sites to deliver scalable, secure, and future-ready industrial platforms.

 

Solution Design and Architecture

  • Architect solutions that integrate IoT platforms, such as ThingWorx and Kepware, with public and private cloud infrastructure.
  • Incorporate AI, MLOps, IoT platforms, and cloud technologies to create intelligent systems and architectures based on ROI and deployment scale.

 

LCNC Software & Mobile Applications

  • Apply experience with LCNC software solutions to design, implement, and deploy applications regionally and globally.
  • Manage the product requirements of the LCNC solution and develop product and technology roadmaps.
  • Promote reusable application frameworks and citizen developer enablement while maintaining enterprise governance.
  • Ensure secure integration between LCNC platforms and enterprise applications.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, IT, Operations, and Innovation teams to enable application development at scale.
  • Facilitate communication among stakeholders to ensure smooth adoption.
  • Demonstrate a high level of proficiency across various functions within the enterprise and possess a strong understanding of financial principles.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • More than 15 years of experience in industrial connectivity, IIoT platforms, cloud platforms, digital manufacturing, or enterprise technology.
  • More than 8 years of experience leading engineering teams that deliver enterprise-scale technology platforms.
  • Proven experience delivering global industrial connectivity and middleware platform solutions across multiple manufacturing sites.
  • Experience designing cloud-native architectures using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Strong knowledge of MLOps, AI infrastructure, and enterprise AI deployment.
  • Experience with edge computing and edge runtime technologies.
  • Experience designing event-driven architectures using technologies such as Kafka or equivalent messaging platforms.
  • Strong understanding of API management, middleware integration, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Experience with Low-Code/No-Code platforms.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols, including OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, SECS/GEM, or equivalent protocols.
  • Strong understanding of DevSecOps, CI/CD, GitOps, and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Experience with container technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Programming knowledge in Python, Java, SQL, and modern web technologies.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native architecture.
  • Experience with data modeling, industrial data integration, and enterprise analytics platforms.
  • Understanding of OT cybersecurity, Zero Trust principles, and industrial compliance.
  • Strong people leadership and organizational development experience.
  • Experience influencing executive leadership and global business stakeholders.
  • A strategic mindset with strong business acumen.
  • A passion for emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, digital twins, Industrial IoT, cloud computing, and autonomous manufacturing.
