Legal Counsel

Your Mission

This position reports to the Senior Legal Counsel for all legal and compliance matters. The focus of this role is mainly to assist the the legal team in implementing compliance program and the general legal affairs in the company. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to work with various stakeholders across all functions within the company and to hone his counselling skills by making a change in a fast pace environment.  

What To Expect

  • Advise various business functions and provide legal support on day-to-day business activities to ensure compliance with all licensing and approval requirements.
  • Manage and mitigate complaints, assist in investigations and disputes from customers. Where necessary, work with other legal counsels to attend meetings or tribnals. 
  • Develop, prepare and maintain contract templates, forms, letters, policies from time to time upon request by the business.
  • Draft, review, advise and negotiate various types of contracts, terms and conditions, letters, NDA, MOU, forms and any other documents required by the business.
  • Develop contract management system with contract approval checklists to ensure proper execution process.
  • Plan and implement compliance program by localising headquarter policies. Review any exisiting policies to reflect business and operational needs.
  • Promote good governance, observe code of conduct and assist in ethics complaints and internal investigations.
  • Plan, organise and conduct compliance training by working with various business functions to align with business needs.
  • Develop internal control framework and perform background screening on vendors, suppliers and business partners. Report any risks to the senior legal counsel.
  • Perform due diligence, attend to audit requests and any other ad hoc requests as instructed by the senior legal counsel.
  • Consolidate, file and report all approvals, licenses, permits and or directives, penalties or irregularities of the company to the senior legal counsel and compliance officer.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor of Law (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD).
  • At least 3 to 5 years PQE, general corporate background, with experience in drafting contract, due diligence and data privacy.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing or automotive industry, will be an advantage.
  • Good communication skills and stakeholder management
  • Willingness to learn new regulations, flexible and confident with unknowns and constant changes in the new industry.
  • Practical and solutions-oriented to solve legal challenges in the new industry.
  • Collaborative mindset to work with various business functions in a start-up culture.
